Process Engineer
The Process Engineer will plan, direct and coordinate activities related to the design, modification and operation of process equipment in the plant by performing the following duties personally or by coordinating the activities of operations, maintenance and contract personnel. The position is located at Joule's demonstration plant in Hobbs, New Mexico. Training for the position will be conducted at the company's pilot plant in Leander, Texas.
Responsibilities
• Support the operation of the plant by reviewing, studying, problem solving and troubleshooting the plant systems and equipment and by recommending modifications or new equipment to improve operations
• Support the planning and execution of major repairs and retrofits within the facility as needed
• Plan and implement capital projects relating to process improvements and plant expansions
• Develop plant specifications for equipment, piping, electrical, instrumentation, etc.
• Work with Environmental, Health and Safety department to ensure functionality and compliance of emission control devices and processes within the facility
• Coordinate project documentation including P&ID updates, operating procedures, training, equipment files, project files and drawings
• Coordinate all activities necessary to complete design, development and implementation of engineering projects
• Be responsible for the plant’s Mechanical Integrity Program (MIP) development and implementation
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required in Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or any related field from an accredited institution. Candidates should have two to four years of project management, plant engineering or process engineering experience, including supervisory experience with engineers. Candidates should also have demonstrated the ability to anticipate and resolve engineering-based plant performance issues. Other desirable attributes include:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of instrumentation and process control design
• Expertise and proficiency in basic office computer software and programs
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Understanding of fundamental theories of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, separations and control systems
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a continuous operating environment
